But, the KGC released its report and referred names to "authorities" somewhere for criminal investigation. There are also 31 names other than Hamilton linked to the scandal per the KGC report; Hamilton was specifically named, the others weren't. So, UB is being selective in what they release, perhaps because of legal concerns (though they technically may be beyond US court jurisdiction), or maybe because the depth of the scandal is embarassing. But the names could be released in such a way that no accusation of wrongdoing was made, just that their accounts were linked to Hamilton's superuser account activity.

A greater concern is that there are continued reports that players are still (two years after the fact) not getting hand histories and other data to determine if they were scammed. If UB isn't going to name individual names, then why not release account names that were linked to the scandal? Why the delay on the hand histories? It's really more about containing a PR disaster than complying with an outside mandate.

Frankly, I have no dog in the UB fight. I haven't played online in 2-3 years, for a variety of reasons. I just find UB's handling of the scandal puzzling, and Annie Duke's defense of UB laughable.Grange95https://www.blogger.com/profile/01857460215043659894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169281096117913024.post-13106468663386105482010-07-23T06:21:51.530-05:002010-07-23T06:21:51.530-05:00A company not making statements that someone is a ...A company not making statements that someone is a cheat...hmmm...I wonder if it was their choice or some dumb/crooked/whatever lawyer's idea that a defamation suit wasn't desirable. It seems enough info leaked here and there to make Russ' involvement public. There's no court that has jurisdiction. The privacy rights of stockholders doesn't lend itself to full disclosure.

It'd be nice if all that were addressed but UB isn't the body capable of changing all that.

I do play there but missed being exploited -- either because my cheap play slipped by or that I too easily exploited without resorting to SU status.

I've blogged quite a bit about UB and their past and present ownership. It doesn't give me the warm-fuzzies. But, I also just blogged that neither do the "reputable" ones.KenPhttp://www.pokerperambulation.comnoreply@blogger.com
